And today's is a doozy.
00:00:34 Speaker 3
We get to visit.
00:00:36 Speaker 4
The land of Bigfoot again Caitlin, tell us about this week's real life on so we're taking you to Missouri, where Alan said he and his wife had quite the experience out on a lonely Rd.
00:00:52 Speaker 4
Take a listen.
00:00:57 Speaker 5
My wife and I lived on County Road between Salem, MO and Rolla, MO which is about 30 miles apart and at this County Road went down.
00:01:09 Speaker 5
We were probably 2 miles down the County Road, but there was only like 4 houses between the highway.
00:01:17 Speaker 5
At our house, we lived halfway down a hill.
00:01:21 Speaker 5
There there's a Creek called the Dry Fork Creek that, well, it's actually a pretty long Creek.
00:01:28 Speaker 5
It's actually just a small stream.
00:01:30 Speaker 5
But a a lot of that stream is dry is loose.
00:01:36 Speaker 5
What they call losing stream here in Missouri there are parts of it that goes underground, and unless there's a real big rain, usually there's just different pools somewhere in the Creek, but.
00:01:51 Speaker 5
Winter is about halfway down this hill toward the Creek, and one weekend we were gonna go on someplace out of town.
00:02:02 Speaker 5
And so my wife was gonna wash the car and clean it up and get some of the stuff packed.
00:02:09 Speaker 5
It would be taken with us.
00:02:10 Speaker 5
And I had to run into town for something and we never locked the door because there was never anybody on this County Road and it was out in the middle of the country.
00:02:23 Speaker 5
And also it was an old farmhouse that was built Dino, probably 19.
00:02:30 Speaker 5
119 ten something like that, so there was no air conditioning. We always left the windows open too, but I came. Came back from town and.
00:02:40 Speaker 5
And the bucket and the hose and everything was still there, but I couldn't find her.
00:02:46 Speaker 5
So I went in the house and there was there was only one bedroom, and it was upstairs.
00:02:51 Speaker 5
But the whole upstairs was a bedroom 'cause it was open and I walked up.
00:02:56 Speaker 5
There was the first thing that kind is.
00:02:59 Speaker 5
It made me think that something was kind of strange.
00:03:03 Speaker 5
Was that the door was locked, so I had to find my key and get in.
00:03:07 Speaker 5
I noticed the windows were closed, but I got upstairs and she had a.
00:03:13 Speaker 5
He was in bed under the covers.
00:03:15 Speaker 5
Had the covers up to her nose and she had a shotgun.
00:03:19 Speaker 5
Under the covers.
00:03:21 Speaker 5
And I was like what in the world are you doing?
00:03:23 Speaker 5
But this, she said that she had heard something down by the Creek and she said it kept getting closer.
00:03:30 Speaker 5
Sounded like it was getting closer.
00:03:32 Speaker 5
But she never could see anything, and I said, well, what did it sound like?
00:03:38 Speaker 5
And she said, well, it was kind of a cross between maybe a cross between a scream and a moan.
00:03:46 Speaker 5
She said she'd never heard anything like it and I said, what was it, cattle?
00:03:51 Speaker 5
'cause there was some cattle down in there and she said no.
00:03:54 Speaker 5
'cause he he moved those out a couple of days ago, moved into a different pasture so I didn't really think anything of it.
00:04:01 Speaker 5
I was kind of kidding it, but then we got up to go to work the next morning and it was.
00:04:06 Speaker 5
It was a spring day.
00:04:08 Speaker 5
And it was really.
00:04:10 Speaker 5
Really windy and it was still dark when we left for work and I pulled out of the driveway and got up at the top of the hill and the road kind of turned.
00:04:20 Speaker 5
There was like a little curve.
00:04:22 Speaker 5
And it was still pretty much dark.
00:04:25 Speaker 5
I mean, I had the headlights on and as soon as we made that little turn in the road the headlights hit this.
00:04:33 Speaker 5
It had to have been a Bigfoot 'cause it was standing right in the middle of the road and it really looked shocked.
00:04:39 Speaker 5
That, like somebody had caught it.
00:04:42 Speaker 5
I mean, I, I don't know how to describe that it it just had a look of surprise and it it was windy.
00:04:51 Speaker 5
And you can see that the hair was like flowing 'cause it had pretty long hair, but it wasn't the typical color that you usually see.
00:05:01 Speaker 5
It was kind of a Gray color that and now I didn't get right up to it, I mean, but because by the time we got there, it had turned and stepped across, uh.
00:05:11 Speaker 5
Ditch and then stepped across barbed wire fence, but from where we were at, I would have judged it to have been taller than my truck and I had a four wheel drive truck and had a lift kit on it so it was it was pretty high so I would have guessed it probably had been.
00:05:29 Speaker 5
8 foot 9 foot tall.
00:05:31 Speaker 5
But it it was, it was big.
00:05:33 Speaker 5
It was massive and I never did go back to look for it and I'm just.
00:05:40 Speaker 5
I'm glad that both of us saw it.
00:05:42 Speaker 5
I never did go out deer hunting after that for probably three or four years till I mean like the sun was way up.
00:05:49 Speaker 5
In this guy.
00:05:49 Speaker 5
But yeah, I probably wouldn't go out till like 10:00 o'clock in the morning and I got in way before dark.
00:05:57 Speaker 5
But I did go back there every once in awhile.
00:06:00 Speaker 5
I would just go back and walk along the Creek and you know look for signs and see if there was it.
00:06:06 Speaker 5
But I never did see anything.
00:06:08 Speaker 5
But then I don't really know what I'm looking for either.
00:06:11 Speaker 5
You know it had kind of a elongated head and it it was just tall and it was massive.
00:06:19 Speaker 5
I mean muscular.
00:06:21 Speaker 5
I guess it's a better way to put it, but it it was huge.
00:06:26 Speaker 5
And you know, compared to anything else that you would see, and you know, like we have a pretty good population of black bear up here and you know occasion.
00:06:36 Speaker 5
Wait, you know you see those and I guess sometimes they walk on on their back legs.
00:06:43 Speaker 5
But the thing that kind of said this was a part was that it stepped across the ditch and then stepped across barbed wire fence.
00:06:51 Speaker 5
And I don't think he, you know, I don't think he would see a bear do that, and I've seen a lot of times I've seen deer stand up like if they're, you know, in an orchard.
00:07:01 Speaker 5
And maybe there's some apples you know.
00:07:04 Speaker 5
I've seen them stand up and eat that, and I've seen them.
00:07:07 Speaker 5
Stand up and eat berries off Dogwood trees and stuff like that, but but this was totally different compared to that.
00:07:15 Speaker 5
I mean this this thing was walking like a person first I just I didn't even say anything.
00:07:22 Speaker 5
I just I.
00:07:23 Speaker 5
I just kept driving and my wife said what was that and I said what was.
00:07:27 Speaker 5
What this is so you know you saw that and I said, yeah, I, I said I did, but I have.
00:07:33 Speaker 5
No clue what it could be.
00:07:36 Speaker 5
And we just kind of figured you know that it almost had to be a Bigfoot, but then that kind of got me interested in it.
00:07:44 Speaker 5
And after we moved from there I got on the Internet and I was kind of looking at different stuff and they.
00:07:52 Speaker 5
Uh, had a recording of what they had thought was a Bigfoot out like in Washington or Northern California someplace, and I played that and I didn't realize that I had the volume up loud.
00:08:08 Speaker 5
And and when it came on, my wife came in there and she said, what was that?
00:08:12 Speaker 5
And I said, well, what do you think it was?
00:08:14 Speaker 5
And she said, I don't know, but it sounded just like what I heard that night on the Creek.
00:08:20 Speaker 5
I've talked to some other guys, you know, the one guy I was telling the story to and he spends basically his life in the woods.
00:08:28 Speaker 5
I mean, if he's if he's not out either, you know with a bow or out rifle hunting he he's usually out just up in a tree stand somewhere trying to scouting.
00:08:40 Speaker 5
Things out to see where the animals are, you know, and I told him about it and he said, oh I just don't think there's anything to that because he said people would find clues or or something you know and he actually lives on a river.
00:08:57 Speaker 5
And so I I didn't really, you know, pursue it because it's like, well, he doesn't believe what I'm saying so but then, about a year later, I was telling that story to somebody else and he happened to be there and he said, well, you know, he said if if these things were like down around a river, they'd have caves.
00:09:17 Speaker 5
To get into and they would have water right there at the river, and they could always find something to.
00:09:24 Speaker 5
Eat and I thought now wonder what he's saying.
00:09:28 Speaker 5
You know in in the last year and so I was asking him about it.
00:09:33 Speaker 5
I said So what?
00:09:33 Speaker 5
What have you seen and he said, oh nothing, I was just thinking about it.
00:09:38 Speaker 5
You know it, it's possible around a river they can survive.
00:09:41 Speaker 5
You know that as far as Bigfoot goes.
00:09:44 Speaker 5
I I was kind of like everybody else.
00:09:47 Speaker 5
You know it's it's like you hear about him and I was kind of the same way you know I was thinking.
00:09:53 Speaker 5
Why hasn't somebody found?
00:09:56 Speaker 5
Something kind of concrete you know that would support that, but you kind of.
00:10:03 Speaker 5
I don't know.
00:10:04 Speaker 5
You kind of want to think that it's possible, you know.
00:10:06 Speaker 5
But then I got to thinking.
00:10:09 Speaker 5
In in Missouri, I don't know how it is where you're at, but.
00:10:14 Speaker 5
Uh, there's like no, this is this is taking into account both season rifle season of the alternative methods that like for deer season.
00:10:27 Speaker 5
There's there's like 4,000,000 deer killed in in a season. You know, and but you really don't see deer all that often, but if there's four million of them that are killed and you know it doesn't really make a dent in the population, how many deer are there in Missouri?
00:10:47 Speaker 5
And so I got to thinking, you know, if there if there wasn't a whole lot of these things and they had some type of intelligence and they didn't want to be seen, they probably just wouldn't be seen, you know.
00:11:01 Speaker 5
And and this thing really did look like it was surprised.
00:11:05 Speaker 5
When the when the headlights hit it, so I'm thinking that that the way it was thinking was is hey, it's early in the morning.
00:11:14 Speaker 5
There's not gonna be anybody out here.
00:11:16 Speaker 5
And then when the lights hit it, it just really had a shocked look on its face.
00:11:22 Speaker 5
And then there was like one step across the ditch and then one step.
00:11:26 Speaker 5
Across the barbed wire fence.
00:11:28 Speaker 5
But since that time there's a guy here in town that's a chiropractor and I found out later that was after we moved here that he had written several articles on Bigfoot that have been seen here.
00:11:44 Speaker 5
So it it's kind of interesting and then for the old Andy Griffith show the family on there that played music, the Darling family, they're actually from the same town that I'm in and I didn't realize this either.
00:11:59 Speaker 5
So I got to kind of looking into it and I was actually talking to one of them.
00:12:03 Speaker 5
They they recorded.
00:12:04 Speaker 5
The song they're on the Andy Griffith show.
00:12:08 Speaker 5
They were the Darling family, but their last names are Dillard and so they were telling me about some of the albums that they recorded stuff and one of the songs that they recorded.
00:12:23 Speaker 5
You might wanna look this up.
00:12:24 Speaker 5
I think it's on YouTube.
00:12:26 Speaker 5
It's called the the biggest whatever and they talked to a guy that lives outside town here that actually saw this.
00:12:34 Speaker 5
I guess him and his wife saw one.
00:12:37 Speaker 5
Now this was a long long time ago but he didn't know what it was.
00:12:41 Speaker 5
So he just called the biggest.
00:12:43 Speaker 5
Whatever, and so they wrote a song around it and recorded it, but there's a there's a big conservation area not far from here. It's like 13,000 acres and they say that they've seen several out there.
00:12:59 Speaker 5
When we moved in, there was an older guy that lived back behind us and I was talking to him about the house and he said that at the time that he built his house it was the 1st house here.
00:13:13 Speaker 5
Then that where our house was that he used to have some hogs that he ran in here and so.
00:13:20 Speaker 5
After you know every once in a while something would happen and I asked him one time, I said hey, the the people that originally built this house which it was built like.
00:13:29 Speaker 5
In the late 50s.
00:13:31 Speaker 5
I said are they still alive and he said Oh yeah, they they.
00:13:35 Speaker 5
They live in a nursing home now.
00:13:36 Speaker 5
He gave me the name of the nursing home where I was at, so there there's not really anything like that that you could attribute it to.
00:13:45 Speaker 5
You know, it's kind of strange.
00:13:47 Speaker 5
We just have strange things happen in the house.
00:13:51 Speaker 5
We have hardwood floor.
00:13:52 Speaker 5
Doors, and sometimes you'll hear it sounds like a ball rolling down the hall.
00:13:58 Speaker 5
We've had the stuff that has been leaning against a wall that will just fall out in the middle of the floor, but it's never been anything that's been dangerous.
00:14:09 Speaker 5
It's just it's just odd stuff, you know, but I did.
00:14:12 Speaker 5
Download A1 time. There's there's some app I don't know. It's called ghost.
00:14:19 Speaker 5
Detector or something and I went over to the cemetery one time 'cause my wife family is buried over there and I was just kind of messing around and she's got.
00:14:32 Speaker 5
She's got a brother that was a little younger than me.
00:14:35 Speaker 5
That passed away and I put I put it on.
00:14:40 Speaker 5
His tombstone, but I didn't say anything.
00:14:42 Speaker 5
I just laid it there.
00:14:44 Speaker 5
And he actually had a embolism. He was alone and this thing got into his lungs and he was actually able to call 911.
00:14:56 Speaker 5
But by the time they got there, they couldn't do anything, so she and I had been over there Memorial Day and we just.
00:15:04 Speaker 5
Walked over there to put some flowers on on the graves.
00:15:08 Speaker 5
And I weighed that down, and it came.
00:15:13 Speaker 5
It came across his name was his name was Bo.
00:15:17 Speaker 5
And he came across, went off, and I went and looked.
00:15:21 Speaker 5
And it said, suffocated, that's kind of weird.
00:15:24 Speaker 5
And then I didn't say anything.
00:15:28 Speaker 5
Just left it, laying there and it said Monica.
00:15:33 Speaker 5
Well, he has a daughter named Monica.
00:15:36 Speaker 5
It's like I think we better go home.
00:15:38 Speaker 5
I had had that happen.
00:15:40 Speaker 5
A couple of other times, the town that I grew up in, that's where all my my folks are buried and mom and dad had a daughter that was still born between me and my older sister and so on.
00:15:56 Speaker 5
Memorial Day I usually go down there and, you know, put some flowers out.
00:16:00 Speaker 5
And where her?
00:16:02 Speaker 5
It's just a small timestone you know, for for a baby and where I thought she was at, I was actually in the wrong part of the cemetery.
00:16:13 Speaker 5
And but I had this thing on and uh, when we moved into town, there was a an older couple that lived down the street from us.
00:16:25 Speaker 5
His name was Charlie and his wife name was Mandy and.
00:16:31 Speaker 5
We we lived next door to him, you know forever and I didn't know that they had ever had any kids and.
00:16:40 Speaker 5
So anyway, I'm walking through here and I I was in the wrong part of the cemetery.
00:16:47 Speaker 5
And I was just actually one section off, but I was walking along and there was a small headstone.
00:16:55 Speaker 5
Like for a kid and I thought, well, that's it.
00:16:58 Speaker 5
So I walked up there and it was actually 2 twin girls.
00:17:03 Speaker 5
That is, said daughters of Charlie and Mandy they had died.
00:17:09 Speaker 5
They were they had been stillborn too, or they they only live like a month.
00:17:13 Speaker 5
I was I was looking at that and I thought well, I didn't even know that they had any kids.
00:17:19 Speaker 5
And while I'm sitting there looking at it, it went off and it said horrible.
00:17:23 Speaker 5
And then it said, Charles nobody ever called him Charles, you know?
00:17:28 Speaker 5
I mean, I guess like legal documents and stuff, but everybody called him Charlie.
00:17:34 Speaker 5
So I thought that was kind of odd too.
00:17:37 Speaker 5
Since that time I've deleted that app.
00:17:39 Speaker 5
It's like I I don't want anything following.
00:17:41 Speaker 5
Went home
00:17:45 Speaker 3
First off, I just love the fact that him and his wife had this experience together.
00:17:52 Speaker 3
I think that kind of justifies the situation and kind of makes it feel more real.
00:17:59 Speaker 3
Not saying that if he was by himself, it wouldn't be as believable.
00:18:03 Speaker 3
But the fact that they are together and that she had another experience before that?
00:18:08 Speaker 3
But it's just really.
00:18:10 Speaker 3
It's a really neat.
00:18:11 Speaker 4
Story well and I just think about the times I've been driving on the road when it's kind of dark out and you see, like maybe a deer or something.
00:18:19 Speaker 4
You know you.
00:18:19 Speaker 4
Almost pass it so quickly that you're like, oh, did I see something, but for them both to have seen it and like to have remembered it.
00:18:28 Speaker 4
So vividly.
00:18:30 Speaker 4
I mean, I just think that that puts like so much weight on the experience you know.
00:18:34 Speaker 3
And like you said.
00:18:35 Speaker 3
How many times have we been driving and a deer has crossed in front?
00:18:39 Speaker 3
Of us and you.
00:18:40 Speaker 3
You know that's a deer.
00:18:42 Speaker 3
This thing had to be so huge and and different unlike anything you've seen, any animal you've seen, and you're like, what the hell is going on?
00:18:55 Speaker 4
You know, if.
00:18:55 Speaker 4
You listen back.
00:18:56 Speaker 4
What he says is.
00:18:57 Speaker 4
We just
00:18:58 Speaker 4
Neither of us said anything at first he said he wanted to.
00:19:02 Speaker 4
He was just waiting and then his wife was the first one to speak.
00:19:06 Speaker 4
Up and be like oh.
00:19:07 Speaker 4
Did you see?
00:19:08 Speaker 4
That I mean I can just like imagine being in that situation with my husband.
00:19:13 Speaker 3
And then also to have this other amazing paranormal type experience to go along with your amazing Bigfoot experience is just a double whammy for me.
00:19:25 Speaker 3
I mean, for something like that to happen that you can't deny that it.
00:19:31 Speaker 3
Real, I mean, you can't deny that this is way too connected to what has gone on in his life to not be accurate.
00:19:39 Speaker 4
Yeah, I mean I, I love that what he said like you know he deleted the app not too long after those experiences 'cause he just isn't the kind of person to want to invite that sort of thing in.
00:19:51 Speaker 4
And I think that that's really good.
00:19:52 Speaker 4
Good advice, you know, sort of like how we used to be watching you know all those ghost shows in high school.
00:20:00 Speaker 4
Like growing up, you know at some point we had to be like, OK, we need to limit our watching of this because it's raising our anxiety.
00:20:07
It's expecting.
00:20:08 Speaker 3
Our life.
00:20:10 Speaker 4
I mean, I think that there's like a point.
00:20:12 Speaker 4
If you can control sort of your interaction with the paranormal or that sort of thing, you know it's best to kind of do so.
00:20:20 Speaker 4
I don't think that God or whatever you believe in you know, wants us to dwell on the dead or the past.
00:20:27 Speaker 4
If if we don't have to.
00:20:28 Speaker 4
You and I do have a funny story to wrap things up real quick and hopefully our listeners find it as funny as we do.
00:20:35 Speaker 4
But as I was.
00:20:36 Speaker 3
I found it hilarious.
00:20:38 Speaker 4
As I was getting ready to interview Alan, uh, you know, if you haven't told a story in here before, here's how it works.
00:20:46 Speaker 4
Madeline will like send me a name and a phone number.
00:20:49 Speaker 4
Not a lot of other info and I will call the person.
00:20:56 Speaker 4
As I'm literally about to dial the number, I'm like, Madeline, what's his name?
00:20:59 Speaker 4
You didn't tell me.
00:21:01 Speaker 4
And she types back am N.
00:21:05 Speaker 4
Amen, I'm like OK, interesting name, but you know these days there are some interesting names out there so I just go with it.
00:21:15 Speaker 4
I dialed the number and he answers and I say, hey, this is Caitlin with the unrest podcast.
00:21:23 Speaker 4
And I literally said on that because I'm like.
00:21:27 Speaker 4
Hopefully this is really his name and I'm not really sure how to say it, but I'm just going.
00:21:30 Speaker 4
To wing it and I said.
00:21:31 Speaker 4
Come is this a man and?
